The International Defence Conference (IDC) stands as the premier global platform for defence and security leaders to address the most pressing challenges and opportunities shaping the future of defence.
Taking place this 19 January at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, IDC 2026 introduces the transformative theme, “Smart Horizons: Redefining Defence Through Intelligent Autonomy”. This year’s theme will explore how emerging technologies are reshaping societies, transforming defence ecosystems, and influencing global security architectures. Sessions will examine both the opportunities and the implications of intelligent autonomy across the modern battle space.
MOD Challenge
Building on the success of previous editions, the 2026 Ministry of Defence Challenge returns with a renewed focus on innovation and rapid capability development. This year’s challenge invites students, startups, and emerging tech teams to design breakthrough autonomous and AI-powered solutions that address real operational needs defined by the UAE Ministry of Defence.
Participants will compete through a series of technical stages, live demonstrations and real-world scenario testing. The challenge aims to accelerate disruptive technologies, nurture national talent, and strengthen collaboration between the MOD, academia and industry—solidifying UMEX as a global hub for defence innovation.
